So, I was watching reruns of The Office recently, and the one where Pam and Jim get married came on. This is probably the best episode for all of you soon to be brides. If fact, if you haven’t seen, then go watch it. At one point during the episode, Pam says, “This was supposed to be our day; why’d we invite all of these people?” Um, yeah… I hear this quite a bit, and I’m sick of it! Stop being a wussy with a capital “P”, and do something about it!
I’m sure there have been several times during your planning where you thought about throwing in the towel, speeding to city hall, and just getting it over with! But… you don’t… because you are too afraid of disappointing your family and friends, and you don’t want to look back and regret making a hasty decision that will affect the rest of your life.
But… if you let everybody else dictate YOUR day, then it ALSO will be a decision you regret for the rest of your life. So find a happy medium. Fuckin’ zen ladies. You wouldn’t let “these people” in your bedroom telling you that you should switch from reverse cowgirl to missionary, so don’t let them mindfuck you during your planning. I’ve stated this before in my Fuck Off post, and I will say it again: Be nice, but make this day what you want. I mean, this is supposed a happy time, and you can either let it take on a life of it’s own by losing site of what’s important to you and your groom until suddenly you are standing at the alter asking what the fuck happened… and when did this stop being about us? OR, you can be polite, be firm and tell everybody to back the fuck off.
And do it early bridey’s, because it starts off innocently enough, and will escalate until you are no longer in control… Got it?
