Real Wedding Wednesday ~ A Gorgeously Awesome, Deliciously DIY, Downton Abbey Inspired, Philly Wedding

Meet Laila and Stephen, the B+G. I think you can tell by the photograph that they are super fun, laid back and are perfectly suited for each other. I mean... that's what happens when you know each other for eleven years before you start dating and ultimately get married. Right? Wow! That's some serious courting!!

But, bridey, there is so much to this wedding, that I really want to get right to it. Grace Winter, with the talented Asya Shirokova Photography, asked the bride and groom some FAB questions which are incorporated within the post. So enjoy, and get inspired!

The dress, where did it come from? My dress was purchased at David’s Bridal. Finding the dress was a bit of a process and we visited variety of types of stores – Lovely Bride boutique, second hand wedding dress store and David’s Bridal. It was important for me to understand the differences and opportunities there might be by investing time and patience in finding my dress.
Who planned the wedding? Steve and I did most of the planning, however, friends and bridal party were a huge help. We hired a day of coordinator (who is an old family friend and daughter duo) who helped think through all the last minute day of needs. This was one of the best decisions we made as they were incredibly helpful and dealt with all the last minute details of the event.

How did you meet? We met at Drexel University and were brought together by mutual friend. We would hang out often, share in the simple joys of listening to records, take road trips and even saw our City’s beloved Veterans Stadium implosion together. We were great friends, which blossomed over 11 years before we started dating.
Who did your flowers? The bridal party flowers were designed by a local florist called Falls Flowers. I became close to the owner through an old job and she was delightful in working through all the creative elements of floral design.

The tables and surrounding area flowers were all put together by my mother and her sisters from Brazil. They chose red roses for the tables as they were my grandmother, their mother, favorite flower and it was a great way to remember and symbolize her presence with us.

We had many DIY projects. Since Stevo works at a brewery, we had access to interesting resources to help customize our day. We made several signs from wood pallets (Welcome the wedding, photobooth and smoking section).
Do you have a tip for other couples that are currently planning their weddings? Realize the things that you care about and stick to your guns. Your family will have opinions in how the day will go. Pick your battles and know when to stick to stand up for things that really matter to you. They will respect you more in the end.

Get a day of coordinator! You don’t want to deal with all the minute details, get someone who will stick up for you. We hired a family friend and it was ideal in that they got the job done and had a great time with our family/friends.

Where did the cake come from? Why this cake flavor or design? What makes this cake unique? Our cake was baked by a family friend, Susan, who has a passion for baking and hopes to open her own bakery someday. She was kind enough to offer her talent to us and created a beautiful and delicious three tiered vanilla and coconut cake.

Fantasy Friday ~ A Luscious, Sumptuous, and Delicious Southern Wedding

Luscious. Yup! Luscious is the word that comes to mind when I take in beautiful deets encapsulated in Kari and Brian’s lovely wedding. I swear that each picture is even more colorful than the next. Seriously, scroll down and check out the flowers. Jumping off the page, right?! Right!! And the venue? OMG! The venue! The cathedral ceilings and the open feel of the space are absolutely enticing! I could totally live there!

But, outside of the amazing venue, waterfall backdrop (yes, I said waterfall!) bright flowers, stunning dress, gorge hairpiece and basically everything else you’re about to see, I love that Kari and Brian chose to have their friend to officiate the wedding. To me, that is at the top of the list when it comes to what this couple will look back and gush about in the years to come. Sure they will talk about how they pulled off the most perfect day ever, but when it comes right down to it, I’m sure that the officiant, family and friends will be at the top of their list. Bridey, as you browse Kari and Brian’s wedding, I want you to think about what will be at the top of your list as you and your hus gush about your wedding day in the years to come. Holy hell... I can't... I'm so in love!!Kari, you look absolutely beautiful!!!Brian's reaction is priceless...HAHA!! Gotta love the eavesdropping. I'm such a sucker for how they are looking at each other! That's one hell of an aisle!!!Awwwww.....Told ya' there was a waterfall!Love the thumbprint guest book!Simply gorgeous!

Real Wedding Wednesday ~ A Southern Wedding That Feels Like a Styled Shoot

I love this wedding. I know I say that all of the time, but Sarah and Terry's wedding is a little different because when I first saw this submission, I thought it was a styled shoot. Seriously. The details are so lovely, and amazingly, completely capture the essence of both family and design. It's really incredible. Look up. See that pic? Totally looks like it should be rockin' the pages of some fancy magazine. The roses in the bouquets are just so, and they are quite stunning. But, it's not a styled shoot, bridey, it's a real Southern wedding!

Seriously, this fall wedding will make you feel like you are standing in the middle of an autumn painting. All of the details help to create a beautiful mindset and overall feel of warmth. Not gonna lie... Sarah's dog and flower girl definitely steal the show at times, and the cuteness is almost overwhelming. I love the mason jars, wheat stalks, and gorgeous florals. Bridey, there is so much to look at in this post, so you'd better get started!

Such a beautiful gown!!Doggie!!!
Could ya' bust!? Flower girl chasing the dog!I mean, this wedding screams fall!! I LOVE the blankets, and all of the fall decor!OMG. Too cute!

Real Wedding Wednesday ~ How About Some Grand Rapids Glitter & A Tree House Wedding?

Alicia and Curtis. Seriously, bridey, can't you tell just by looking at them that they are super fun and probably rock some stellar personalities? I can... Well, that's because I cheated. You see, I've already seen all of the photographs and therefore I know that the B+G and the bridal party stopped at Founders Brewery in-between church and photographs. And in my experience, stopping at a bar usually equates to a bit of debauchery and some FAB photos! That's how I know that Alicia and Curtis are super fun, and their wedding is clearly an extension of their personalities!

Anyway, Alicia and Curtis’s Grand Rapids wedding started in the gorgeous Catholic Church, Saint Peter and Paul. And OMG, just wait until you see Alicia walking down the aisle with her father. It is absolutely sensational, breathtaking actually. Just taking in Alicia's lace wedding gown, her perfectly sculpted backside (true story) and the grandness of the church... Holy moly. I mean... It's truly incredible! So, to recap... Following their stunning ceremony, cocktails for all of the maids and men, photographs in the park and then up in the sky on probably the coolest mode of transportation I have seen at a wedding, they arrive at the reception at the Bissell Tree House. Yes, I wrote TREE HOUSE!!! WHHHAAAA??? Yeah! Scroll down and you will see the tree house and a venue immersed in glitter, navy and fuchsia!

One day (and soon) I am going to have to break down and buy myself these shoes!Amazing wedding dress and veil!!!What did I tell you? Right? STUN NING!!!!I love how the fuchsia ties in with the navy...CHEERS!!Need a closer look at those Kate Spades? Yeah, I'm definitely going to have to get me some of those!
