An Intimate, Backyard Wedding Filled with Tons of Charm, Warmth and Some Mischief

On occasion, I can get a bit corny. It’s a rare occurrence, saved only for special moments, and today is definitely one of those days. Betsy and Suliko are a super chill, super romantic couple, and I am absolutely OB SES SED with them and their awesomeness. Seriously, they are like the couple of my dreams (totally corny!). First of all, they did something I could never do… They kept their relationship private for a very long time! Right? OMFG! Usually after a first date (provided it went well), I’d be blabbing to anybody who will listen. I couldn’t imagine keeping anything quiet, let alone meeting my soulmate! But, more than the cool nature of their relationship, the B+G got married in their backyard, right in the heart of Raleigh. The best part? They moved in less than a month before their wedding day! That alone is completely badass and totally risky!

Betsy and Suliko’s gorgeous wedding was made up of only their closest friends and family (20 people), and their friend Meredith, whom they work with, became ordained so she could marry the B+G. Awwwww…. Bridey, there are so many exquisite details for you to absorb. The mismatched chairs, the twinkle lights, the food, the cakes (yes CAKES!), their dog, Olive… But, my favorite part? I love that these two stayed true the nature of their relationship, and had a super lovely, super chill at home wedding, and did it well. Enjoy!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ceremony seating!

Olive! You’re such a cutie!!!

This truly made me laugh out loud! When Suliko went to read his vows, he pretended that they were so long they spilled to the ground. Hence the mischief! YAAAASSSS!!

Matthews_Ayvazov_RoseTrailImages_DSC1144_big.jpg

They did it!! And Olive is just chillin’!

Matthews_Ayvazov_RoseTrailImages_DSC1180_big.jpg

So, I have cats, and they don’t do cool shit like this.

See what I mean about the corny-factor? How could I NOT be corny about the B+G?!!

Matthews_Ayvazov_RoseTrailImages_DSC5278_big.jpg

First of all, I love the blue door! Secondly, Betsy wore a stunning David's Bridal gown, and added the ribbon sash tied around her waist. LOVE IT!

The MOG, Inga, made all of this totally delicious food!

The garden gnome was a gift to Betsy from Suliko, and it kept making an appearance during the course of the evening. HAHA!

Thank you Besty and Suliko for sharing your awesome wedding, and letting us get a glimpse of your lovely relationship!

A Lush, Mountain Wedding Filled with Extraordinary Colors, Creatures + Décor, Disguised as a Rockin' Party!

Shafer_Simon_AdamKealingInternationalWeddingPhotography_NorthCarolinaWeddingAdamKealing091_low.JPG

Bridey, Sarah + Andy's wedding looks absolutely nothing like this pic. Like, not even a little bit... I mean, if I told you that this pic was part of an engagement shoot, you'd believe me. Right? Well, it's not. Not at all. Not even remotely. This shot is of the B+G sneaking away for a few photographs after the ceremony, and before the RAGER that was their wedding reception. And, I mean RA GER! The kind of party filled with overflowing shots, men rockin' some HOT makeup, the bride with a bottle of booze on the dance floor, and clothes disappearing. Honestly? It's fucking awesome!!! And, the décor?? Dreamy. Delicate. Delicious. A complete contrast to the vibe, and for that, I am OB SES SED!

So, why did I choose to open this rockin' party of a wedding with this particular photograph? Because, I love that while these two clearly love to celebrate, they also clearly love each other. There is a tenderness and ease captured here that would 100% get lost in the scroll, and I really wanted you, bridey, to see every corner of this wedding day. Remember, you can have the wedding of your dreams, and celebrate with your friends and family, but please don't lose sight of the why. YOU TWO!!! Enjoy every.single.photograph. It's truly impossible not to!

You're not imagining the glittered fabulousness... It's there, and it's wonderful!!

I can't even with this wedding dress. OMFG!

You just can't manufacture this kind of emotion. These guests are not only in attendance, but they are present.

There is so much to love about this photograph!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch... Bridey, just look at how incredible this escort card "table" is! OMFG. It's so well done, that the planner in me is going to cry.

Shafer_Simon_AdamKealingInternationalWeddingPhotography_NorthCarolinaWeddingAdamKealing014_low.jpg
Shafer Simon.008.jpeg

Speaking of a crying wedding planner, the décor at this wedding is simply phenomenal. The details are absolutely exquisite!! I truly love everything about everything!

Shafer_Simon_AdamKealingInternationalWeddingPhotography_NorthCarolinaWeddingAdamKealing071_low.jpg

Like, this is a summer wedding, and yet S+A are rockin' deer as part of their décor. How fucking awesome is that?

It's clear to me (and probably to you too if you have even a shred of emotion), that the guests at Sarah and Andy's wedding WANT to be there to support the B+G and celebrate with them.

Look at the faces of the peeps in the background of these pics. Totally awesome!

A Beautifully Casual, Beautifully Bitchless, Stunning Outdoor Wedding...

OMG, bridey, I'm think I'm on to something... like, for real, really on to something (potentially life changing). What has me so excited? Well, as you scroll, you'll see the B+G's adorable golden retriever walking down the aisle, and captured in quite a few of the photographs. Not only is he a beautiful dog, but he's happy too. So, it got me thinking that dogs should be at every wedding! Right? Seriously, how soothing would it be for a bride + her guests to have a sweet pooch to pet and enjoy throughout the wedding day? I mean, they do say that petting a dog (or cat) can lower your blood pressure and relaxes you. I'm sorry, but isn't that PERFECT for a wedding?! It's probably the best prescription for wedding day stress, like ever! The crazy thing is that I am a cat person, but I do melt over a sweet dog.

Anyway, Erin and Nick had the coolest, most laid-back, outdoor FAB wedding that I've seen in a long time. The beer was a flowin', the weather was perfect, and they had a delicious looking red velvet cake. What else do you need? Enjoy!!!

I love E+N and totally love Erin's bouquet!

I really love this sign. (Notice how short the ceremony is? Quick, and to the point! LOVE IT!)

Yes!!!

I am calmer and more relaxed simply by looking at this pic!

Maple syrup escort cards! TOTALLY FAB! One of my brides said that she loved maple syrup so much that she drinks it!! And you know what? I really can't blame her! Although I might be known to add some whiskey to it...

STFU. SO SO SO cute!

Simple. Gorgeous. Elegant. And, red velvet (my fave!)...

It's really perfect...

Thank you Erin + Nick for sharing your beautiful wedding with Bitchless Bride!!

Real Wedding Wednesday ~ A Wedding at Elevated Heights... Meet the B+G Who Met in an Elevator & Love Their Dog

Forget blind dates, match.com, bars or what have you, Nic and Nick met in an elevator! I know, right? Talk about speed dating... OMG! Sorry, I just couldn't help it! But, seriously! Nick lived on the same floor as Nicole's parents in downtown Denver, and apparently asked Nicole for a date several times before she finally agreed. Bridey, I love hearing crazy awesome stories like Nic & Nick's! Gives us all hope that fucking great things can happen at any time if we just allow them to...

Bridey, there are more than a few takeaways from this beautiful wedding at the Sundance Mountain Resort. First of all, both the B+G said that doing a first look was amongst the best decision they made for their wedding day. Scroll down to learn more about why. Also, I love love LOVE how they described the décor for day. (And, I love the cake, the dress, the ceremony, the dog, etc., etc., etc.!) I'm going to let Nicole take it from here! Enjoy!!

OMG! Meet Trooper, Nic & Nick's doggy! I mean... So so so super cute!

Nicole: There were three reasons why this dress was magic. My grandma, whom I love dearly and is no longer with us was named Meme. The dress has pockets! And N-sync, mega dorky I know, came on while trying it on and all of us got down at the a&be bridal shop, including Noah our bridal dress guide. It was a moment for sure… a little different from the ‘Say Yes To The Dress’ crying in a mirror moment.

Nicole: We decided to do a first look for two reasons: to have more time to party with our friends and family and the intimacy of the moment being for the two of us. (Nick – “we were both satisfied that we did the first look. Nothing felt more intimate and validated then seeing each other before our guests, and sharing our hearts and feelings with each other first. We wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”)

Totally looks like Nick is asking Trooper if he's ready to walk down the aisle... "Ready, boy?"

WOW!

Nicole: I don't know if anyone could top my dad in the way he loves and supports me and my mom. Plus he's hilarious and always has a big smile on the brink.

Hip! Hip!

Who do you think is going to win? Server or dog? Dude! Just put down the tray...

Nicole: The idea was to bring the outside in, so the colors I wanted to use were green, white, yellow, and purple. The most important design element to us was to incorporate stories in what we used. The crystal (Meme’s crystal) that hung from the arbor (our friend Rusty created and built), was given to me by my grandma Meme when I turned 16 to hang from my rearview mirror. The ring bearer pillows were made by Nick’s mom Pat, out of his grandma Grace’s wedding dress. My aunt Becca who sang during the ceremony is also an artist and we had one of her oil paintings over the fireplace. For our centerpieces I had purple crystals on each table from my grandmother Margret’s collection. On the Welcome table I had a metal Jacquemard sign that used to hang and the bottom of my grandparents driveway. Nick’s uncle Frank who is a welder made a Greene sign to match. We both wanted to surround this wedding moments with stories about who we are because of the people who surround us.

Amazingly beautiful and warm...

Nicole: Simple, round and all white with wood grain cover; three tiered. Three different flavors (almond, banana caramel (YUM!!), and chocolate. We can't tell you how many compliments we had about the texture and the taste of the cake.

Nicole! I love your dress!!

Thank you Nic and Nick for sharing your GORGE wedding with Bitchless Bride!!!!

Real Wedding Wednesday ~ A Romantic, Rustic and Super Colorful Castle Wedding

So, Kat and Jamy got married in a castle in Connecticut. I mean... Doesn't that just seem so luxurious? Right? Say it out loud with me... "Kat and Jamy got married in a castle." I love the way that sounds, and I wish you could hear the fancy way I say it! Anyway... I'll put the booze down. So, besides the whole castle thing, I heard that Kat and Jamy were a pretty awesome, laid back couple who had a wonderful wedding day. Bridey, that's what it's all about. No, not the castle, the being laid back and awesome part! Seriously, there is no reason to not enjoy your wedding day!

And, there is no reason why you aren't going to LOVE the shit out of this wedding. As you scroll down, there is a cool l'il surprise for you to appreciate. It's so FAB that I kinda got stuck on this one (big) detail. Don't ask, just see for yourself! Enjoy!
I mean.... Awwwww...
Kat, that is one hell of a diamond!
Can we just talk about fucking awesome that pic is?
S.E.X.Y.
These girls clearly have a great time together! And....They look damn good doing it!
Hello handsome.
I couldn't do that. I could totally see myself reaching around that door, grabbing my hus and planting a big kiss on him!
I love everything about this shot. The lighting, the drama, the gigantic urn of flowers...
That's a FAB kiss!
Yeah... That's a sailboat. Isn't that crazy? The wedding is at castle, and there is a fucking abandoned sailboat behind the property!

Fantasy Friday ~ Just a "Typical" Story of Girl Meets Boy Doing Good Work in Ecuador

I was completely drawn to this gorgeous wedding because as cheesy as it sounds, I can feel the love and happiness emanating through the screen. From Emily's cool pink wedding dress to the mismatched, mint bridesmaid dresses, and a amazing floral crown, this wedding is totally princess meets hippie with an insanely awesome sense of humor. Considering that Christian and Emily met at a pseudo bullfight in Ecquador (Christian was looking after the animals and Emily was a volunteer), it's safe to say that they bonded over their mutual love for animals. I mean, c'mon... One of their dogs was the ring bearer!! Right?? Did I mention that she is wearing a tutu, rockin' bright red painted nails, and the rings were safely attached to her collar? STFU!

I will let Emily take it from here... But, bridey... Please pay close attention to Emily's advice to future brides. All I'm gonna say is that I've been preaching it all along!

How did you meet?: I met Christian while working in Ecuador for the non-profit Manna Project International. The day we met we were both volunteering with the Red Cross at a pseudo-bullfight. Christian was serving as the medical head that day and I was just another confused gringa volunteer. Our first "date" was on my 24th birthday when he accompanied a group of crazy gringos on a party bus around Quito.(Surprisingly, he stuck around after this belligerent event and that's when I knew he was a keeper. And the rest, as they say, is history...)

The theme of llamas throughout the day represents his home country of Ecuador (and her family), and the llamas they have rescued (and care for) over the years.

A MAZ ING pic! Amazing!!!

I can't... It's too good. It's too cute...

A little or a lot about your proposal...: Christian proposed on the top of a mountain in Vilcabamba, Ecuador. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and gasping for air (the hike was no easy feat), he asked me to marry him :)

What was your absolute "must have"?: A floral crown - my parents were total hippies so I'm a flower-child at heart. (Holy shit. Emily! Your crown is stunning!)

Any advice for other Brides?: If you can afford it, hire a wedding planner! Planning a wedding is a huge undertaking and you don't want to get bogged down with the prep and not be able to enjoy the months leading up to it. I started from 'zero' while wedding planning, knowing absolutely nothing about the process, so I feel I could have saved a lot of time working with someone who was knowledgeable in the field. (Ahem... Even if you hire somebody to help you manage the day, it will be a tremendous relief!)

Also, let Pinterest become your best friend - it is a great resource to discover what you like/what you don't like and what vision you have for your wedding. It's your day, make it reflect you as a couple!

What made you choose your ceremony and reception venues?: For a while now I had imagined my wedding at my childhood home. It's out in the country - beautiful scenery and llamas, what more could you ask for?! The reception was a unique situation because we actually won a radio auction! We got the venue, dinner, bar, and basic decor for like a 50% discount, AMAZING! (Um, HOLY SHIT!! That's fantastic!!)

Enter the ring bearer... That adorable dog in a tutu, is carrying the wedding rings on her collar! What was the most memorable moment from your wedding?: The ceremony in general, especially our vows. We did them in Spanish but had them printed in English for our guests to follow along. Our officiant was bilingual, which was really special as well.

What was your biggest challenge to overcome while planning?: Time management - I would become really focused on such a silly, minute detail and forget about the big picture. (Yet, another reason why hiring a wedding planner is helpful!)

Did you use any blogs for inspiration? If so, which one/s?: Green Wedding Shoes was my absolute favorite! All the weddings were unique and special in their own way. (One of BB's faves too!!)

OMG! Love this idea!!! This girl loves reese's too!

Notice the dress change?! GORGE!

Thank you for sharing with BB (and letting all future brides learn from you!!).
