Jewel Tones

A Beautifully Dark, Exotically Edgy, and Exceptionally Glamorous Styled Shoot with a Hint of Midnight Romance

I'm not in a dark place. I'm not sad or melancholy. What I am is 100% in love with this dark and moody styled shoot. And, OMG do I wish more brides would experiment with darker hues as they plan their wedding. I mean, if it's done correctly (ahem... like this), then the darkness is sexy, and mysterious, not depressing or sad. I mean... Just look at that table! And holy shit, wait until you see the black wedding dress, the black wedding cake and black leather wedding tux!

Bridey, not only do I hope you enjoy this shoot, but I hope you're inspired by it! Inspired enough to capture some of the details and incorporate them into your own wedding! Seriously! Take a chance! I hear brides say that they want to "do something different + unique" all the fucking time. Know what? It's time to do it! Next time I see something fabulous like this, I hope it's a real wedding, not a styled shoot! Got it! Good! Go enjoy!

Damn. That's a sexy table!

I seriously don't know how to eat a pomegranate, but I keep trying!

Love those cookies!!!

STFU. I can't even with this A MAZ ING cake! Just STFU!

Gorgeous bouquet...

S.E.X.Y.

Great shot! That dress... I want it!

My mouth is watering. Like, a lot.

Real Wedding Wednesday ~ Phillipa & Anurag's Hindu Wedding... Day 2

Here we go again, bridey! I am absolutely thrilled to share Day 2 of Phillipa & Anurag's wedding with you! In February, I shared their Western wedding with you, and today, it's time for you to drool over the stunning photographs, taken by the amazing Hilary Cam, of their Hindu wedding celebration. Seriously, you will be drooling, because it's filled with piles and piles of dynamic colors and energy, and truly incredible details!

OMG! Just wait until you see Phillipa and her 'maids in their super colorful lengha and saris. They are so absolutely stunning that you're gonna freak out! And, don't forget to check out their jewels and henna! I mean... Holy shit with the jewelry! Anyway... I'll let you get to it! Enjoy!!!
Amazing henna. Just gorgeous!Phillipa, you look beautiful.Nice sharanis boys!! You look great!!Wow! Check them out! Woot! Woot!Apparently, they tried to sneak up on Anurag for the first look, but the jingling bells and bracelets gave her away! Anurag still looked shocked and surprised when he saw Phillipa in traditional Indian outfit. Uh... Nice Rolls! Bring on the Baraat!!Yeah, look up! The girls are rockin' Gangnam style! Look down! The boys are giving it right back! An impromptu dance off in the street between the bridesmaids and the groomsmen started when Gangnam Style started playing! Oh YEAH!!Then everybody started dancing! Super fun!!Love. Love. Love.

Fantasy Friday ~ The Darker Side of of a Bride

Motivated by a wedding he saw in Mexico, Jason, with Juice Beat Photography, was inspired to photograph a beautiful bride dressed in a black wedding gown, or what he refers to as The Dark Bride. And seriously, I’m obsessed! The wedding industry has seen quite a bit of transition away from the traditional white wedding gown, thank you Vera Wang, and has begun to show that the darker side of a bride can be pretty fucking awesome. I have nothing against tradition, but it’s always nice to break it too. And how better to break tradition than with a black wedding dress?

When I saw the gorge bride up against a wall of graffiti rockin’ her jewel toned bouquet of flowers, I was captivated. I LOVE that Jason used an abandoned house complete with broken windows, old furniture and walls covered in graffiti for the shoot. Super creative and inspirational! Enjoy!

WOW! The dress, the flowers, the blue eyes... Totally FAB!Holy shit with the flowers! Kinda channeling Cyndi Lauper in this photograph? Right? The jewel tones of the florals really stand out against the black wedding dress!Scary fab veil...Screw the black dress.... Let me slip into something more comfortable...GORGE! I LOVE this shoot!!

Real Wedding Wednesday ~ Jeannie & Glenn's Hip Hopalicious Wedding... Destination Hawaii

I threw it out there, brideys. I shook it up. I didn't ask for specifics, I asked for favorites... Yup! I asked your wedding photographers to submit their favorite weddings. Why? Why not ask for themes, colors or whatever? Well, because I am so fucking busy and crazy these days that I kinda needed to be reminded why I am in this coo coo industry in the first place! Seriously. My ass is getting kicked every weekend (I mean... I LOVE seeing the weddings come through to fruition, but MAN am I tired!!), and I feel myself starting to bust at the seams...

Sooooo, thank God for Rachel from Rachel Robertson Photography... She submitted this beautiful Hawaiian wedding, and when I saw the stunning details, deep jewel tones, and the fucking fabulous hip hop dance the B+G performed for their guests, suddenly, I was reminded that there are cool brides and grooms who just need a little friendly event planning help. Especially when the wedding is in Hawaii and you are in New York! Holy destination wedding! PLUS, Rachel mentioned that Jeannie and Glenn were two of the most hilarious and fun couples she had ever worked with, and when you see the photographs, you will see why! I already mentioned the hip hop dancing, but wait until you see Glenn undress Jeannie on the dance floor... OH YES HE DID!!!!

Holy shit with the gorgeous flowers. Damn.
Definitely need to add these to my "Shoes I Want" board on Pinterest!!
Beach. Orchids. Altar. Amazing.
LOVE the program fans!!
Such a subtle, lovely shot...
WOW! Really pretty dresses and flowers!
I love Glenn!!!

Fantasy Friday ~ Welcome to the Sequin Garden... A Styled Wedding Shoot

I must say, this shoot excites me. And it excites me for two reasons. The fucking awesome décor (totally gives me butterflies in my belly), and Michelle and Corban. You see, five years ago Michelle and Corban had a simple ceremony, and a reception held in the back yard of a friend. They really didn't get to have the experience of having a wedding. Soooooo....Shaina (the photog) and Amanda & Megan (of Bluebird Weddings and Events) collaborated, and voilà! Welcome to the Sequin Garden!!

But, how to make it their own, and be a styled shoot? Well, Michelle did the Speechless print on the dessert table (you'll see, it's adorbs!), mixed with Corban's classic style, and their love of living in the city (and each other, duh!) and the Secret Garden came alive! A glam, urban-meets-garden-party wedding set in a stunning three-story venue tucked away in Deep Ellum. Enjoy this one, brideys!! PILES AND PILES of inspiration here...

Seriously? SERIOUSLY? I mean, how much would you LOVE to sit at a table like this? AT A WEDDING?!!!I want to wear the linen as a dress! Right?Yeah, Michelle drew that! Nice!Love the jewel tones with the green vases!
