I mean... How could I NOT open this awesome engagement shoot with an ass grabbing photograph? Right? The rest of the pics are totally FAB, but this one definitely "grabbed" my attention. Sorry, I couldn't help it... Anyway, bridey, this is a perfect example of fun engagement shoot which doubles as a really cool Save the Date. Seriously, do you think Jessica and Mario are ever going to forget this? Somehow, I doubt that this particular day is going to get lost in their memories. You know what does get lost? Boring and mundane engagement shoots. That's what!
So, bridey, if you're looking for a fun way to capture your engagment, why not sling Holi powder at each other and photograph it? Right? Nothing wrong with a good ol' paint fight!! Especially if you're an art teacher like Jessica is! Seems totally fitting! Have fun with this one!!
Oh shit! Here it comes!OMG! I totally want to play! This one is cool and scary all at the same time.
Envy. That's all... I am completely and totally envious. Seriously, I just can't get enough of Leah's hair. Right?? It totally makes me want to go back to my teenage years and rebel (well, a little bit more). The only time I got my hair a teeny, tiny bit this fire engine red was when I dyed it with... KOOL-AID!! Yup. I dyed my hair with fucking Kool-Aid! And it worked! I don't know what's worse; that I dyed my hair with a popular (at the time) tasty bevy or that it fucking worked!! And, according to wikiHow, apparently, I was WAY ahead of my time! (Bridey, if you're interested in trying it, you must use the unsweetened packets vs. the sweetened.... TRUST ME!) Anyway, back to Leah and her fabulous hair and this cool ass shoot!
Between the red hair, the cherry red Chevy, the blue stilettos, the Golden Retriever and the heat between Leah and Matt, I just couldn't help myself. I HAD to share this engagement shoot with you, bridey. Because, if you're interested in having an engagement session, then take a few pointers from Leah and Matt. Shake it up! Change your clothes, bring props (the Chevy does count as a prop, right?) and get into it! Or else why do it? Right? So, doll, have fun scrolling!
I mean... FUCK YEAH!!! I need these shoes!Look at that hair!! OMG!!!Hot!Awwwwwww.... Doggie....
Bridey, by this point, you know that I am absolutely obsessed with Las Vegas, so when I saw this FAB Las Vegas engagement shoot and wedding (all within two days) of Britney and Jon; I totally jumped up and down! This is an amazing elopement with some super cool deets and ideas specifically to take care of their guests all while encapsulating the insanely deep connection between Britney and Jon.
This San Francisco couple did not want a traditional white wedding, so what are a girl and boy to do? Oh yeah! Grab your guests, head to Las Vegas, get married at the Little White Wedding Chapel by an Elvis impersonator and have the time of your life! Right? Right! Bridey, if you feel like Britney, Jon and I are speaking to you through their completely awesome wedding, then just wait until you see the Save the Dates, pink Cadillac and wedding day(s) itinerary and your decision to elope (to Vegas) will be made! Enjoy!Love this photograph, and I'm completely in LOVE with Britney's shoes!I mean... How fucking FAB is this???WOW! Britney, you are truly beautiful! Love how you're rockin' the bright red lipstick! Totally a girl after my own heart!Holy shit. That's an incredible dress!Awwwwww.....Such a cool pic!Yup! There's an ass behind them. And you know what? I kinda love it!
So, bridey, there are like three scenes in this engagement shoot, and I love each and every one of them! It's a cultural, romantic and playful session all wrapped into one. Lately, I've been pretty obsessed with not having a boring engagement shoot, and Namrata and Jason totally succeeded in avoiding the mundane! As you enjoy the pretty pics, I'll let Namrata take it away and tell you about how she and Jason got together.
From the bride: We met on match.com; he sent me a cute message on if I had my pumpkin carved since it was around Halloween. It took a month of messaging back and forth and then I finally meet Jason in person at lemon bar in Atlantic beach.
Namrata, you are completely stunning! Lovin' the scenery...This is a steamy pic!Stunning...
When I think about an engagement shoot, it's rare that I think of them as "sexy" or "funny". Usually, I think about them as "boring" or "cheesy". Sorry, but it's true. I mean how many ways can a couple smile at the camera or look longingly at each other? Right? But, when I received Chelsea and Darian's shoot from the super talented Creatrix Photography, I was excited to show you, brideys, that an engagement shoot can be fun and sexy all at the same time.
It doesn't hurt that Chelsea and Darian are a great looking couple, but more than that, it's clear that they are completely captivated by one another. Sparks are flying all over the place with these two! And yet, they are laughing their way through the shoot. They are having a ball and it shows!
Brideys, this is the way to do it! Have fun with it! Get into the moment! Lose yourselves! Trust me, based on these photographs, Chelsea and Darian will look back at their engagement session as more than just a photo shoot, but more like a fantastic memory.
Sexy. Funny. Sexy.Clearly funny! I wonder what she was laughing at!!Anybody else thinking Top Gun right now?
You all know that I love a good engagement shoot, right? One that goes beyond boring, traditional photographs, and has the balls to break through the mundane and truly shows the world the true colors of the B+G. Well, brideys, allow me to introduce you to Brenda and Monty (and Royal, the pitbull puppy). Seriously, if I didn't write a single word in this post, and only showed you pictures, odds are you'd still walk away feeling like you know them. But, I do want to share what I know about B+M with you because it's pretty fucking cool. Just look at their matching shoes and adorable pooch! Lovin' their style!
You see, brideys... Brenda and Monty are already married, but they didn't have the opportunity to have an engagement shoot. In fact, they had a very small, intimate wedding because Monty, a Marine, was due to be deployed. Sooooooo.... the second Monty was back state side, they grabbed Royal, some cool clothes and gallivanted around Houston taking photographs. And I'm dying over their gallivanting choices... So much color, so much texture, and clearly... so much love (okay, enough with the mushy shit...)!
So, bridey, if you're thinking about dressing up and taking a few humdrum (best word ever) engagement photographs, suit yourself. But, if you dare, add some color and life to your shoot, and you'll be pleasantly surprised with the outcome!! Enjoy!
Such a great shot. It's like they got caught... having a moment, and I fucking love it!Awwwww.... I mean... Royal is so sweet!Things are heating up! Time for a costume change! OMG! I love this dog! And I love that he is wearing their wedding rings around his neck!
I’m a little obsessed with time travel. Like… I think I get it from my dad, who is a touch crazy like me (oops! I def have that backwards; obviously I get that from him, right?), but no matter what, we’ve both been somewhat drawn to what life was like in other decades. I think that’s why I love Nicole and Jonathan so much. Their engagement shoot was inspired by the 1920s-1930s, and apparently their wedding had a 1940-50s vibe to it (don’t worry, something tells me that you will see it showcased on BB). Seriously, how fucking cool is that? I mean, love the idea of being swept into another era, even if it is just for a few hours at a fabulous wedding.
The other thing I absolutely adore about this engagement shoot? Nicole and Jonathan clearly had fun. Just look at these photographs! They are having a ball! They look fantastic, and when they look back on their engagement shoot, they will actually remember it. It won’t just be some day that blends into all of the others, like, “Oh look, here we are together smiling in front of this tree.” Or, “Look at us kissing in front of this statue.” BORING!!!! They will remember their experience at Idlewild, a park that dates back to the 1900s. See? History IS fun! Who the fuck knew!
Bridey, I’ve said it a million times… Your engagement shoot should be something that means something to you two as a couple. Put some thought into it… Don’t just phone it in and do whatever. Take advantage of the opportunity to shine. Ahem… Okay, that’s enough preaching. Just enjoy these kickass photographs!
Suddenly, I have the urge to go to a carnival!
OMG... Nicole! You are so adorable!! So cute!
Bam! Bam! Bam!
As you may know, based on how often I feature his incredible photographs, I absolutely LOVE Hilary Cam. In fact, I might actually be IN LOVE with Hilary Cam!! I mean... his work is not only fabulous, and fabulously creative, but each artistic submission makes me feel like I'm actually there... like I'm actually in the room and watching it all go down. Hard to do, brideys.
Here is a bit about his latest masterpiece from the kick ass gentleman himself: "The curtains opened on this love story 9 years ago. A romance set in a cinema between two of its operators may sound like a promising opening for a French Art House film but this is the start to Jessica & Craig’s relationship. Both worked at the local theatre and in between screenings and orders popcorn a romance blossomed.
Our shoot takes place at Craig’s old workplace, the pristine Art Deco Roseville Theatre, originally built in the early 1900s and renovated in 1938. Thank you so much for the owners for access to this historical theatre and thank you to the friendly projectionist, Sam, who tirelessly and happily helped out late at night."
Seriously? I love the couch, and the loveliness of this photograph.
I couldn't resist. I just had to share an engagement shoot that was not only super distinct and off the cuff, but so cool and so fun that I wish I could have been there. Well, maybe not rolling around on the bed with the bride and groom, but definitely in the vicinity!
From the photographer, Jessica Olivero: Nikki and Michael are getting married in next year in New Jersey, and they wanted an engagement session that went against the grain as well as fit who they are as a couple. Michael is a DJ + both he + Nicki are total music junkies. We rented a low key hotel room + "trashed" it with bottles, records, clothes + lots of other rad things.
I LOVE how raw this session feels....like the morning after a crazy party.
I love all of the "trash" in this shoot!!! Every time I see a cool engagement shoot like this one, I wish I could rewind, grab a cool photog friend and the hus and get snappin'!
The BEST album cover ever!
Don't get me wrong, I love the wild and crazy engagement shoots. Painting each other, hunting each other and even rolling around in the snow with bottles of spray paint are fantastic, but if you're not into the craziness, a traditional engagement shoot is just fine. However, if your passion for each other bleeds through... Well, that's just fucking splendid. Take Louanne and Joe for instance. It's clear to me that they have electricity just by looking at these cool ass photographs. Right?
Louanne is a super stylish and creative hairstylist and makeup artist. Joe is a witty and sarcastic middle school english teacher (awwww...). I'd say their personalities balance each other out perfectly.
From the Iliana, the photographer: "For their engagement session, Louanne and Joe wanted to go somewhere vibrant and fun. We decided to shoot in Little Italy in Downtown San Diego because there's so much color and energy there. We had fun exploring the area and snapping some great photos. At one point it did start to rain, so we ducked into a nearby bar-- Bottlecraft-- which is one of all of our favorites. Those ended up being some of my favorite photos! And in the end, the sun began to shine, giving us just enough time for a few more photos, with the sunshine glistening off the wet surfaces!"
This one really speaks to me. If I were them, this photograph would totally be hanging over my fireplace for the world to see..
Happy Easter! I purposely decided not to do anything Easter related because by the end of the holiday, you're gonna be totally Eastered out, totally sick of candy (well, maybe...), eggs, ham and even Easter eye candy! So, I thought I'd give you straight eye candy instead... And what I am showing you today is super stylish and such a bloody fantastic idea for engagement shoot, that I just about fell over when I saw the pictures!
If you look on my about page, you'll see that I love to photograph graffiti, so in my humble opinion, this engagement shoot not only encompasses a colorfully phenomenal backdrop for a photo shoot, but then... THEY PAINT EACH OTHER! Holy shit! Right? I mean, obviously I'm guessing that the dress the bride is wearing in the photographs isn't her actual wedding dress, but perhaps it's similar or perhaps it's completely different. But, who cares!! It's fabulous! I mean, imagine these pics hanging in your home? So not traditional... so not expected... and SO not boring!
Brideys, if you're looking for a fun way to play during your engagement shoot, this is it! Go ahead... try something outside of your norm. Get comfortable being uncomfortable! The pictures are completely worth it!
So... they started off all lovey dovey with beautiful black and white photographs in front of a lovely backdrop. Holding hands, a lovely snuggle and then....
BAM! Oh... What do we have here? Some cans of paint? How awesome is that!?
Look at their faces! Through their smiles I can see the desire. Ewww... Not THAT kind of desire
I gotta say... I really LOVE Super Stylish Sunday. I love it because anything goes. And today? Well, it's no different. Although, I must admit... I was going to go a whole different route for the post today, but when I saw this in my inbox, I felt like I NEEDED to share it. Immediately. Because for some of you, today's post is simply a cool couple who chose a pretty fantastic way to photograph their engagement session, but for me it's much, much more.
I hate to say it, but usually? I get so damn bored with the majority of engagement photographs I see. And while the couple may be pretty to look at, dressed perfectly and completely in love, the photographs tell me absolutely nothing about who they are. They are empty somehow. But these? Well, they tell a story, and outside of how "pretty" the couple is (and they are pretty!), you get a feel for what they like, and who they are, versus how long they can gaze into each other's eyes for the sake of a picture.
Seriously? What an incredible way for two lovebirds to spend an afternoon together? A gourmet picnic in the park on the back of their teal 1950s pickup truck?! It doesn't get much better than root beer, apples, French cheeses, bread, nuts, and some caramel popcorn. Right? Oh, and you know what? Let's snap some photographs and call it their engagement shoot! LOVE IT! I love the energy, I love the spirit, and I totally love how their photographer was able to truly encapsulate who these two people are as a couple.
I cannot get over the whimsical look in her eyes! So stunning...
